The Imitation Game

Me and my dad have been going to a lot of movies lately. The Maze Runner, Guardians of the Galaxy, Big Hero 6, Into the Woods... These movies have, on rare occasions, impressed, but most have fallen terribly flat.
Not so with The Imitation Game. A shining film with a star cast and riveting plot, there wasn't much that this movie could improve on.
This movie, based on a true story, follows the brilliant mathematician Alan Turing, working at Bletchley Park during world war II. We are brought along for the ride as the socially awkward, eccentric man tries to solve one of the most puzzling puzzles in world war II; the enigma code. As he struggles with his inventions, we are brought to light on his experiences both before and after the war, from bullying and a tragic loss of a "friend" in his youth to a criminal investigation launched against him after the war. Meanwhile, during the war, Alan has to cope with the stresses of working together with his group, and being a homosexual in an unaccepting society.
As I just said, this movie couldn't have improved on much. The movie was both entertaining and touching. There wasn't a moment during the movie when I started to wonder how much longer it was. The acting was impeccable; you can't go wrong with Benedict Cumberbatch!
Perhaps the most touching moments in the movie were in the final few scenes. As the movie came around full circle, the audience was treated to a touching finale which left them thoroughly depressed as the ending credits rolled around. So frankly... it was great!

Thanks for reading,

-Mark
